“I never thought that the mirror was lying to me. I always thought that the mirror was real. And true.”

 — Eva Fisher

This film is crafted around the three therapeutic stages for treating body dysmorphia: cognitive therapy, habituation, and motivation.

Part I: Cognitive Therapy invites viewers to gently question the negative thoughts they hold about their appearance and to replace those distortions with realistic, compassionate understanding. The realization — that the mirror can deceive — inspired me to visualize the lying mirror in the first part of the film.

This work specifically speaks to teenage girls and young women aged 15 to 25, particularly those growing up in Asia, where constant media pressure glorifies an unrealistic ideal: skinny, pale, and 'perfect.' The film cannot heal in just three minutes, but it is meant to be a gentle beginning — an awakening. A reminder that the harsh lens through which they see themselves is not the truth.
